Simeon Comenius Chitty (December 21, 1831-March 29, 1902) was a native of North Carolina.  His parents were John Jacob Chitty (1800-1873) and Anna Dorothea Leinbach Chitty (1803-1840).  He was the third of six children.  Chitty translated hymns.  He also taught at Moravian schools in Minnesota, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.  Chitty never married.  He died of a stroke while preparing to attend the Great Sabbath Lovefeast in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
