Words by John Gambold Sr. (1711-1771)

1.  They who Jesus’ followers are,

And enjoy His faithful care,

By a mutual, hearty love,

Their belief in Jesus prove.

2.  They’re delighted, when they all,

With one voice on Jesus call;

And when fitly, without strife,

Each his duty doth in life.

3.  Meek they are to all mankind,

To good offices inclined,

Ready, when reviled, to bless,

Studious of the public peace.

4.  Tender pity, love sincere

To their enemies they bear;

And, as Christ affords them light,

Order all their steps aright.

5.  May it to the world appear,

That we Thy disciples are,

By our loving mutually,

By our being one in Thee.
