Latin Roman Catholic prayers for the dead; the opening of the funeral

Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine:

et lux perpetua luceat eis.

Te decet hymns, Deus, in Sion;

et tibi reddetur votum in Ierusalem.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,

and may perpetual light shine upon them.

It is fitting, O God, to sing a hymn unto you on Mount Zion;

and our vows shall be carried out for you in Jerusalem.
