From Chalice Worship (1997), of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ):

Expectant God, teach us in this time of worship the lessons of waiting.  Calm our restless hands so we may learn deeply the ways of quiet preparation.  Help us to know the wisdom of being faithful in your presence.

Waiting God, grant that we may learn to live with our questions rather than demanding instant answers.  Guide us to live in peace with what we cannot understand.  Help us rest in the confidence of your abiding presence and your abundant promises, soon to be fulfilled.

Indwelling God, fill our hearts with your love that we may offer praise befitting your holiness.  Strengthen us that all we do and say, all we think and feel, will be avenues of your praise–one great magnificat of love lifted to you.

All this we pray in the name of the coming Christ.  Amen.
