Loving God,
the annual celebration of your incarnation in the form of Jesus approaches.
This should be a happy and blessed occasion.
Yet many people grieve the absence of one or more friends or family members
whom distance,
estrangement,
incarceration,
or death separate from them.
Bestow upon those who grieve
the consolation of your Holy Spirit,
that they may rejoice in your love and mercy.
We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
fully human and fully divine. Amen.
